2027: Oluremi Tinubu Opens PBAT Movement Headquarters, Rallies Support for President
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the national headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja as supporters intensify grassroots mobilization for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The inauguration took place on Friday, October 23, 2026, bringing together political leaders, movement coordinators and supporters of the President’s second-term campaign. The new office is expected to coordinate activities and strengthen the movement’s nationwide outreach.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Tinubu urged members to engage Nigerians at the community level, listen to their concerns and communicate the policies and programmes of the current administration.
She said door-to-door campaigning should go beyond asking people for votes, stressing the importance of respectful engagement and explaining the government’s agenda to citizens.
The First Lady also encouraged campaigners to promote messages of hope, peace, unity and development as they seek support for the President ahead of the next general election.
Tompolo Leads Grassroots Mobilization Initiative
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement is convened by Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, who serves as its grand patron.
The movement aims to take the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda directly to households and communities through coordinated grassroots campaigns.
According to reports, the group has already conducted mobilization activities in several states. Senate President Godswill Akpabio said at the inauguration that the movement had visited 14 states and was conducting door-to-door campaigns in some locations, including Sokoto and Borno.
The national headquarters is intended to serve as a central point for coordinating campaign structures, supporting state and local government coordinators and organizing communication with communities.
Akpabio, Kalu and Governors Attend
Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended the movement’s organizers, describing grassroots engagement as an important part of political mobilization.
He urged members to use their community visits to understand the challenges facing residents and explain the administration’s policies rather than merely solicit political support.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu also welcomed the initiative.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa were among the political figures reported to have attended the event. Both governors expressed support for the movement’s mobilization effort.
Tompolo, through Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited Managing Director Kestin Pondi, reiterated the movement’s commitment to campaigning for Tinubu’s re-election and extending its activities to communities across the country.
Economic Reforms Feature in Campaign Message
Mrs. Tinubu urged campaigners to explain the administration’s economic reforms and communicate what the government describes as emerging opportunities for Nigerians, particularly young people.
She referred to developments in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics and electric vehicles, saying campaigners should help citizens understand the opportunities associated with changing technologies and economic activity.
Akpabio also defended the government’s reforms, including petrol subsidy removal, currency-related measures and tax reforms, arguing that they were intended to reposition the economy over the long term.
However, the political debate over these policies continues, with Nigerians assessing their effects on inflation, household expenses, employment and business operations.
The inauguration therefore marks another step in the campaign organization’s efforts to communicate the administration’s record and secure support before the 2027 election.
Campaign Activity Builds Ahead of 2027
The opening of the headquarters comes as political parties and support groups increase their preparations for the next presidential election.
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement says it intends to expand its reach through local coordinators, community engagement and campaign activities across the states and the Federal Capital Territory.
As the election approaches, the movement’s mobilization drive will form part of the wider political contest in which parties and candidates seek to present their records, policy proposals and plans to voters.
