Tinubu Campaign Council: Osun Chapter Inauguration Holds Today

Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council: Osun Chapter Holds Inauguration Today

The Osun State chapter of President Bola Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council is scheduled to be inaugurated in Osogbo on Thursday, October 22, as political leaders prepare for the 2027 general election.

The inauguration is expected to bring together political figures from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Accord Party, according to reports on the planned event.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was named the state coordinator of the council, is expected to oversee its activities as the campaign structure prepares to mobilize support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Oasis Event Centre in Osogbo, with proceedings expected to begin at noon.

Adeleke Unveils 344-Member Campaign Council

Adeleke recently unveiled a 344-member Osun State Presidential Campaign Council comprising political leaders, elected officials, former officeholders and party stakeholders.

Prominent figures listed include former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru and the party’s candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji.

Other names on the list include former senators Iyiola Omisore, Jide Omoworare and Sola Adeyeye, alongside former Speaker of the House of Representatives Foluke Etteh.

The council also includes members and political figures associated with the PDP and Accord Party, reflecting the broad range of affiliations represented in the announced structure.

Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the governor would coordinate the council’s activities in the state.

Opposition Figures on the List Raise Questions

The inclusion of politicians from parties other than the APC has drawn attention to the composition of the campaign council.

According to Punch, sources within Adeleke’s camp and the Osun APC indicated that there had been no formal meeting to determine how the campaign arrangement would operate. An APC source also expressed uncertainty about the list, while the party had not issued an official response at the time of the report.

The participation of the listed opposition figures, and whether they have individually accepted their roles, therefore remain important questions.

Being named on a campaign council list does not, by itself, establish that every person listed has formally accepted the appointment or committed to campaigning for Tinubu.

National Campaign Council Already Inaugurated

The planned Osun event follows the inauguration of the national APC Presidential Campaign Council by Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on October 14.

The national council is coordinating preparations for the president’s 2027 re-election campaign. Tinubu chairs the council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda serving as vice chairmen.

Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari was named Director-General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma serves as secretary.

At the national inauguration, Tinubu urged members to work together, communicate the administration’s policies and achievements, and organize their activities across states, local governments and electoral wards.

The Osun chapter’s inauguration is part of the wider effort to establish campaign structures at the state level.

Focus on 2027 Election Mobilisation

The state council is expected to support political coordination and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Its activities may include engaging political stakeholders, coordinating campaign structures and communicating the campaign’s messages to voters across Osun State.

However, the effectiveness of the council will depend on how its members organise themselves, resolve questions surrounding membership and coordinate their activities in the state.

With the inauguration scheduled for Thursday, further details about the council’s operations and the participation of its listed members may emerge during or after the event.
