The political battle ahead of the 2027 general election is already heating up, with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) firing back at the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a fresh war of words.
The NDC’s Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada, has expressed confidence that the opposition party can defeat the ruling APC, regardless of who is recruited to lead its campaign machinery.
Agada made the remark while responding to political developments surrounding preparations for the 2027 election.
According to him, the APC is free to bring in even the world’s richest and most influential figures to coordinate its campaign, but that would not stop Nigerians from deciding the country’s political future.
In a provocative challenge to the ruling party, Agada said the APC could go as far as appointing billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk as its campaign Director-General and the NDC would still be confident of victory.
The NDC spokesman insisted that what will ultimately determine the outcome of the election is not propaganda, political packaging or the personalities running campaign organisations, but the judgment of Nigerian voters.
He maintained that Nigerians are increasingly aware of the issues affecting their daily lives and would make their decisions based on the performance of those seeking to retain power.
The latest exchange highlights the growing political tension as parties and emerging political forces begin positioning themselves for the crucial 2027 presidential election.
With more than a year to the polls, political rhetoric is already becoming increasingly aggressive, suggesting that the battle for Nigeria’s next government could be fiercely contested.
