Wike, Soludo and Adeleke Named in Expanded APC Presidential Campaign Council for 2027
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a revised list of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, naming Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke in key positions.
According to the new list, which is scheduled for inauguration by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Wike has been appointed campaign coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT. Soludo will coordinate the campaign in Anambra, while Adeleke will handle Osun State.
Notable Political Cross-Party Inclusions
The inclusion of the three figures has drawn attention because none of them currently belongs to the APC.
- Wike remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
- Soludo was re-elected in November 2025 on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
- Adeleke won re-election in August 2026 under the Accord Party.
Their appointment signals ongoing political realignments and the ruling party’s strategy of bringing influential politicians from outside the APC into the campaign structure.
Other Key Appointments
The revised council also features:
- Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as Director of Finance
- All 32 APC governors as campaign coordinators for their respective states
- Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu as one of the Deputy Directors-General for the South
- Former Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola and several other prominent figures in zonal and stakeholder mobilization roles
President Tinubu chairs the council, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda among the vice-chairmen. Senator Abdulaziz Yari serves as Director-General.
Why This Matters
The expansion of the campaign council, particularly the formal roles given to Wike, Soludo and Adeleke, reflects the APC’s effort to broaden its support base ahead of the 2027 presidential election. It also highlights the fluid nature of Nigerian politics, where party labels sometimes take second place to personal and regional political calculations.
Whether these appointments will translate into concrete electoral support in Rivers, Anambra and Osun remains to be seen, but they mark a significant step in the formal organisation of Tinubu’s re-election machinery.
