Former Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas Producing Areas, Sir Kenny Okolugbo, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his reported position on fuel subsidy and the 2027 presidential election.
Okolugbo criticised Atiku’s political prospects, insisting that bringing back the controversial fuel subsidy would not provide a route to victory in the next general election.
According to him, Nigerians have moved beyond policies that could return the country to the economic challenges associated with the subsidy regime.
“You can’t return fuel subsidy, no pathway for you in 2027,” Okolugbo declared while reacting to Atiku’s political position.
The former commissioner maintained that the debate surrounding fuel subsidy remains a major issue in Nigeria’s political and economic landscape, particularly as political figures begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The exchange comes amid growing discussions over the impact of fuel subsidy removal, rising living costs and the policies political leaders may present to Nigerians as the next general election approaches.
