The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to reports claiming that it had withdrawn its recently unveiled 2027 presidential campaign council list, describing the reports as nothing more than rumours.
The development followed controversy surrounding some of the names included in the campaign council, with speculation emerging that the ruling party was planning to review the list and remove certain members.
However, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka has now dismissed the claims.
According to reports, Morka insisted that the party had not withdrawn the list and stressed that Nigerians should wait for an official announcement if there was ever a need to make changes.
“Rumours are not news. When people are carrying rumours, that is not news. There is fake news, and there is real news.”
Morka further addressed speculation about a possible review of the campaign council.
“Nobody will give any list at the moment. But if there is any reason to update it, it would be announced properly.”
APC’s 2027 Campaign Council Sparks Controversy
The APC had unveiled its presidential campaign council structure on Saturday, August 22, ahead of the 2027 election.
President Bola Tinubu was named chairman of the council, while Vice-President Kashim Shettima was appointed vice-chairman.
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda was also listed as vice-chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari was named director-general of the campaign council.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors Forum, was named secretary.
Other prominent figures included in the council were former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Betta Edu, former NSITF board chairperson Ngozi Olejeme, Nigeria Revenue Service Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji and Budget Office Director-General Taminu Yakubu.

The composition of the council quickly generated reactions and scrutiny, particularly because of the inclusion of some serving and former public officials who have faced allegations and investigations.
By Monday, reports had begun circulating that the APC was reconsidering the list and could drop some names.
Morka’s latest comments, however, appear to put those rumours to rest for now, as the APC spokesman maintained that the party had not officially withdrawn the campaign council list.
When asked about complaints from party members who believed that some important APC figures had been excluded, Morka reportedly said dealing with such grievances was not his responsibility.
What This Means for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Campaign
The controversy comes as the APC begins positioning its political machinery for President Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The party has charged members of the campaign council to promote the achievements of the current administration and work towards securing victory in the 2027 presidential election.
For now, the message from the APC appears clear: despite widespread speculation, the 2027 presidential campaign council list has not been officially withdrawn.
And unless the party announces otherwise, the names on the controversial list remain in place.
