Gunmen Kill Chinese National, Two Soldiers in Kebbi Attack

Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have killed a Chinese national and two soldiers in an attack on a road construction site in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The attack occurred on Thursday at a construction site linked to the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway project, according to reports citing the Kebbi State Police Command.

The police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the incident, saying the soldiers were providing security for the Chinese national and other workers when the attackers struck.

Usman said other people sustained injuries during the attack, while the identities of the deceased soldiers were not disclosed because they were military personnel.

He added that joint security agencies had launched a manhunt for the suspected attackers.

The attackers were reportedly believed to have entered the area from Kebbe Local Government Area of neighbouring Sokoto State.

The incident has raised further concerns about security around construction sites and communities in the north-western region.
