Keyamo Knocks Atiku Over Tinubu Criticism
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has criticised former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar over his recent comments against President Bola Tinubu and his administration.
Keyamo made the remarks in a statement on Friday, October 9, accusing Atiku of being bitter over Tinubu’s emergence as president.
The minister’s reaction followed Atiku’s criticism of the Federal Government’s 30-day petrol price discount at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) filling stations.
Atiku had described the initiative as a publicity stunt, arguing that it would not address the wider economic hardship Nigerians have faced following the removal of the petrol subsidy.
In response, Keyamo said Atiku’s criticism was driven by political frustration, claiming that the former vice-president was unhappy that Tinubu secured the presidency.
The minister also made comments about Atiku’s mental health, saying those close to him should encourage him to seek support. His remarks were political accusations and were not accompanied by clinical evidence.
Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has continued to criticise the Tinubu administration over the cost of living and its handling of economic policies.
The exchange comes as political activity builds ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.
